Aeroponic Farming Technology
Learn advanced soilless cultivation using aeroponic technology. Understand system components, root-zone management, nutrient solution, misting systems, environmental control, crop selection, plant support, monitoring and maintenance. Develop practical knowledge for high-efficiency urban farming, controlled environments, experimentation and modern soilless agriculture enterprises.
You work through closed-loop aeroponic setups where plant roots hang in air and receive timed nutrient mist. The course covers choosing pumps and nozzles, keeping roots oxygenated, balancing light and humidity, and running daily checks so leafy greens and herbs stay productive in terraces, polyhouses, or small commercial bays.
Level 04 – AELP. Agriculture Experiential Learning Program. Practical, Project-Based and Experiential Skill Training.
Module 1: Aeroponic Principles & System Design
- Compare aeroponics with hydroponics and substrate culture for water use
- Map reservoir, pump, manifold, mist chamber, and return lines
- Select crops suited to short cycle times and fine root systems
- Estimate space, power, and backup needs for a starter unit
Module 2: Misting, Pumps & Root-Zone Management
- Set mist interval and duration for seedling versus mature stages
- Inspect nozzles for clogging and maintain filter screens
- Keep roots exposed to air while avoiding dry-out between cycles
- Sanitise chambers between crop turns to limit biofilm buildup
Module 3: Nutrient Solutions & Water Quality
- Test source water and adjust for pH and dissolved salts
- Mix working batches to target EC for leafy and herb crops
- Refresh solution on a schedule based on volume and plant load
- Log changes and correlate with plant colour and growth rate
Module 4: Propagation, Transplanting & Plant Support
- Germinate seeds or root cuttings in sterile starter media
- Move seedlings into collars or baskets without damaging roots
- Train canopy height and spacing for even light in vertical racks
- Stagger planting dates for continuous harvest windows
Module 5: Environmental Control & Monitoring
- Balance temperature, humidity, and airflow in enclosed units
- Match photoperiod and light intensity to crop stage
- Use simple sensors or manual logs for climate tracking
- Adjust settings when leaves show heat or moisture stress
Module 6: Maintenance, Troubleshooting & Scaling
- Run daily walk-throughs for pump noise, leaks, and timer drift
- Diagnose common issues: wilt, tip burn, and uneven mist coverage
- Harvest, cool, and pack produce with batch traceability
- Outline costs and expansion steps for a small commercial bay
Who This Is For
Minimum 12th pass or equivalent. Suitable for urban farmers, horticulture students, agripreneurs, and technicians who already understand basic plant care and want hands-on aeroponic system skills for research plots, startups, or controlled-environment production.
